Mussel-inspired reinforcement of a biodegradable aliphatic polyester with bamboo fibers

چکیده

Abstract Natural fiber-reinforced biocomposites displaying light weight, low thermal conductivity and reduced environmental footprint are increasingly relevant in structural, packaging, cementitious masonry materials. However, the poor interfacial compatibility between fibers typical polymers has limited development of mechanical strength water resistance. Here, we report a green, facile effective method inspired by nature to promote adhesion based on biodegradable aliphatic polyester (polybutylene succinate, PBS). For this purpose, PBS was reinforced with bamboo modified (3-aminopropyl) triethoxysilane polydopamine (PDA). The PDA deposition covalent were promoted self-polymerization Michael addition and/or Schiff secondary reactions. A distinct improvement reinforcement achieved together gains performance, including tensile (70%), modulus (25%), flexural (37%), (24%) impact (63%). results far exceeded those measured for other while simultaneously introduced

Formulation selection of aliphatic aromatic biodegradable polyester film exposed to UV/solar radiation

Aliphatic aromatic copolyester films, poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) or PBAT, are susceptible to photodegradation, leading to main chain scission and crosslinking. The presence of crosslinked structures not only decreased the mechanical properties of the film due to embrittlement, but also hindered the biodegradation process by limiting access of water and microorganisms to the polymer...

X-ray Tomographic Imaging of Tensile Deformation Modes of Electrospun Biodegradable Polyester Fibers

Electrospinning allows the production of fibrous networks for tissue engineering, drug delivery, and wound healing in health care. It enables the production of constructs with large surface area and a fibrous morphology that closely resembles the extracellular matrix of many tissues. A fibrous structure not only promotes cell attachment and tissue formation but could also lead to very interesti...

Polyester Nanocomposite fibers with Antibacterial Properties

Antibacterial nanocomposite polyester (PET) fibres were melt spun by adding nano ZnO loaded Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE) master batch (MB) to the PET chips. The influence of content of nano ZnO on the antibacterial properties, crystallization behaviour and mechanical properties was studied. It was found that PET composite fibres having 1 % nano ZnO showed the optimum antibacterial ac...

Multifunctional aliphatic polyester nanofibers for tissue engineering

Electrospun fibers based on aliphatic polyesters, such as poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL), have been widely used in regenerative medicine and drug delivery applications due to their biocompatibility, low cost and ease of fabrication. However, these aliphatic polyester fibers are hydrophobic in nature, resulting in poor wettability, and they lack functional groups for decorating the scaffold with che...
